Over one mile of glass railing and shoe with a matching mile of 3"
pure brass channel-in-tube capping the glass guard rail. This provides a
contemporary open visual appearance and safety in a high traffic
public and modern shopping mall theme park.
THE CHALLENGE
To supply (only) a system that would connect and fit together on
site for ease of erection by 3rd party install crew. To fabricate, mark by section, crate and ship over 2000 miles. To do it on time and
within budget. To do it on a zero defect basis. To Custom
roll light wall brass channel the hard way, with no defects and fitting the
tubing underneath perfectly .
THE
OBJECTIVES
To supply the entire system outlined above, all at once and all
perfect.
To fabricate the many components as individual sub assemblies, then tie
everything together perfectly on site. (there was no time available for
rework)
THE SOLUTIONS
 | Gallery Metalworks tradesmen, using math,
templates and custom tooling for bending, rolled all the 3"
channel-in-tube to match the curved sections. |
 | The tubing then became the template for
the field attached light wall channel. |
 | Each component was re-polished, numbered,
wrapped and crated in sequence. |
 | Flush 3" elbow castings were created to
handle each corner. |
 | Gallery Metalworks developed and
pioneered the first Glass Clip Holder (see current 400 series) which
allowed field installation of undrilled glass. |
